On The Nature Of Creation
The goddess woke with hungry eyes
Her sights set upon a lust for life
And so the breath of life was set upon
The innocence of youth and cries
From the earth she came to witness
The birth of love, greed, and lies
And she cursed it to roam the wilderness
With regretful, yet tender eyes
That child of sin yet remains
Short of perfect, still the goddess’ ray
She watches their ploys from afar
How they kill, steal, and betray
Impatient, selfish, indulgent creatures
Yet beloved, she cried and cried
Save the innocent, she implored
as they pillaged, never satisfied
A thankless child, he asks for more
Ever-blinded by his own desires
Now a vengeance stirs within her
She sends them rage, fury, and fire
As she feels her own self burn
That child of greed still ignores
He dances round the fire
In celebration of her to bring more
For scorched earths bring forth rain
And they marvel at its beauty
And sing her praise of good fortune
And bring harvest from their cruelty
As she longs for their return
To that harmonious unity
She’s caressed by the unseen
A lonely heart, a penchant for lunacy
Showered and adorned she sits
With stories from a star-lit night
And understands her creation
That without dark, there is no light
